Analyzing your on-premise VMware environment

Connect in 15 minutes

To collect data, you need the Densify Connector. It's a self-contained, Windows-based application that allows you to perform automated, scheduled data collection from your vCenter Servers or vROps and transfers that data via HTTPS to your dedicated Densify instance for analysis.

How to install and configure the Connector

VMware versions we support for data collection

You can collect data from vCenter (note configs) to gather data daily or if you have vROps, connect to it to get historical data as well.

VMware vCenter Server 5.5, 6.0 or 6.5

  • Read-only account required with access to the clusters, hosts, VMs and datastores to be audited
  • Config Stats Level 2 (Level 3 if you need to report on disk IOPs and network packets), statistical logging interval of 5 minutes and 48 hour data retention (required if not using vROps)

vROps 6.4 or 6.5 (Standard, Enterprise)

  • Read-only local user account required

What you'll need to run the Connector

It is recommended that the Connector is installed on a VM (dedicated or shared) with:

  • 2 CPUs, 8GB Memory, 10GB Storage
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 or 2012 R2 or 2016

Alternatively, the Connector can be installed on a Desktop PC with:

  • 2 CPUs, 8GB Memory, 10GB Storage
  • Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit

Note: Only US English-based locale settings are supported.
Note: Java JRE (64-bit) 1.8.0_74 is installed with the Connector.
